Chunxin’s path to architecture began in the world of fine arts. Coming from a studio art background, she was driven to pursue architecture as a way to blend culture and aesthetics with the practical, day-to-day design challenges of the built environment. Originally from Hangzhou, China, she moved to the United States for her undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Oberlin College, followed by a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Drawn by a desire to live closer to nature, Chunxin eventually made her way to the Pacific Northwest, bringing with her a diverse portfolio that spans commercial, civic, and residential sectors, as well as urban planning research.
With over five years of experience in the profession—including three years of post-graduate professional practice—Chunxin has developed a versatile skill set that covers everything from schematic design to construction administration. Rather than confining herself to a single specialty, she thrives on working across a variety of project types. What really excites Chunxin about her work is its power to shape public life, creating spaces that define both the quiet, everyday moments and the exclusive, memorable experiences of the people who use them. She approaches every design challenge with deep care and purpose, seamlessly combining a human-centered philosophy with a love for technical innovation and creative problem-solving.
Outside the office, Chunxin stays connected to her artistic roots through knitting and painting in her sketchbook, while also taking full advantage of the Pacific Northwest by exploring the outdoors. Her appreciation for nature is amplified by a fascinating interest in geology—a passion sparked during her undergraduate classes that she now carries into her visits to National Parks. Always looking to learn and grow, Chunxin’s bucket list includes refreshing her PADI certification for more diving, mastering the backstroke and butterfly swim strokes, and picking the violin back up.
